Thursday March 19

 Good morning all

Another true north adventure this week.  We had a 48 hour blizzard with winds of over 137 k an hour, and 13 cm of snow!!  It blew so hard, I thought my house would blow away.  It shuddered and shook.  As you know, our homes are manufactured, and they are set up on stilts because of the perma frost.  So, the wind got underneath and really gave us a good shake up.  And was it noisy--I couldn't quite figure out the note--but it was like a deep growl that never stopped.

I was worried that the power poles would blow over, or that the many big dishes would smash-but nothing like that happened.  Only the power lines blew off.  On the hill here, we did not lose power, so we were ok. The other side of the village was not so lucky.  They lost power early on.

Today is bright and sunny, small wind, but about minus 29 with a wind chill of minus 42.  Our road is totally closed with drifts as high as a house.  Parts of the village are also nearly buried.  So, school is closed, once again.  This week we opened only Monday.  Looks like will be closed for the rest of the day, and probably tomorrow.

I made it to school to water my plants, and to do some planning.  I came home, now to practice.  My clarinet playing is getting better, fast, with all this practice time!!  I will be ready for a recital when I come home--classical, jazz, religious, you can book me for a show--ha, ha, ha!!

Looking forward to the March break starting March 27.  I am flying out to Montreal, and staying over with friends. On the 28, out to Vancouver for a couple of days, and then to the island.

I am hoping that maybe with all that has happened here, that the school will close early.  It has happened before.

Yikes, a total white out!!

Storm starting up.

A beautiful evening, the calm before the storm.

Love our puzzles.

Our dear councilor on the left, has taken the rest of the year off.  This was our farewell picture.

As the wind picks up.  At the peak of the storm, you could not see the truck!!

An hour into the storm.

What it usually looks like.
