March 3 It has been two weeks now that we have been back full time. I am having excellent attendance, and for the most part, the children are settling into good work habits. It is a full time balancing act engaging them, giving them seat work that is meaningful, and trying to provide work that is not too hard or not too easy. I tend to error on the amount. Some children are quite able, but some are not. Keeping in mind the huge difference in ability, it is really a challenge. I am going to try something new today--timing each segment of lessons--direct teaching, and then seat work. I need to do this so that I can divide the class into groups. It worked out!! So far, the children have great difficulty in working independently. They act out when someone is not hovering over them.
